Forestal Failed to Run an Ethical Office
As Marion County Sheriff, Kerry Forestal has faced scandal after scandal. One of his staff was sentenced to 18 months in jail for beating an inmate. Others were arrested for trafficking drugs into the county jail and adult detention center.4
Forestal Failed to Protect His Deputies
Kerry Forestal is being sued by his former deputy for wrongful termination, citing she was fired after filing a complaint for being put in a dangerous situation.5 Another deputy was killed by a prisoner due to his negligence.6 Rather than take responsibility like a true leader, Kerry Forestal chose to play politics and blame others for his mistake.
